  1. National Safe Motherhood Day is annually observed across the globe on 11 April with the objective of promoting the well-being and safety of mothers and expectant mothers by increasing awareness of proper healthcare. 
  2. Kerala has topped the list of States in the country with the most number of products securing the Geographical Indication (GI) tag in FY23.
  3. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on 6 April 2023, approved the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions through credit cards.
  4. According to the latest FIFA rankings, the Indian men’s football team has climbed up five spots and is now ranked at 101.
  5. According to the announcement of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on 5 April 2023, India plans to double its renewable energy capacity to 500GW by adding 50GW capacity each year for the next five years.  
  6. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) integrated Khelo India Games Certificates with DigiLocker on 6 April, 2023.
  7. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on 6 April 2023, unveiled a 54-feet-tall bronze statue of Lord Hanuman at Sarangpur temple in Botad district, Gujarat.
  8. On 5 April, 2023, the Andaman & Nicobar command, which is India’s sole tri-services unit, held a collaborative military drill named ‘Exercise KAVACH.’  
  9. Five Indian-origin women executives have featured in Barron’s prestigious annual ‘100 Most Influential Women in US Finance’ list for attaining prominent positions in the financial services industry and playing a role in shaping its future. These women are Anu Aiyengar from J.P. Morgan, Rupal J. Bhansali from Ariel Investments, Sonal Desai from Franklin Templeton, Meena Flynn from Goldman Sachs, and Savita Subramanian from Bank of America.  
  10. Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, who held the position of Senior Vice-President, took over as the President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on 6 April, 2023.
  11. The President of India Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the ‘Gaj Utsav-2023’ at the Kaziranga National Park in Assam on 7 April, 2023.
  12. Tesla Inc, on 6 April 2023, announced the nomination of its co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer, JB Straubel to its board of directors.
  13. Facebook parent company, Meta released an artificial intelligence (AI) model, Segment Anything Model (SAM) that can pick out the different items within the photographs.
  14. Chinese company Space Pioneer has achieved a historic milestone in space exploration, launching its Tianlong-2 rocket into orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Inner Mongolia on 2 April, 2023.
  15. At the Ordinary Congress of European Soccer’s governing body held in Lisbon, Aleksander Ceferin was re-elected as the UEFA President unopposed.  
  16. Jharkhand’s Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto on 6 April, 2023 passed away at the age of 56.
